The 20th Anniversary Anthology

In 2014 the Eurobodalla Writers will celebrate its 20th anniversary.  Quite a feat, as the group was set up because a few people who had undertaken a writing course at the TAFE decided that they wanted to keep writing together.

Since then the ‘Writers’ have published four anthologies that, with the exception of the last one, all have sold out.  We are keeping a few copies of “Where Pelicans Fly” for our fundraising early next year.  We want to raise the money to print our next anthology.

The theme for this new anthology is ‘Changes’ and the current working title is ‘Immutable Metamorphosis’.  Members of our group will write stories and poems within the theme but how they interpret the theme is up to the individual author.  If our weekly topics are anything to go by, it will be a very surprising mix of stories, poems and characters across several genres including noir, thriller, speculative and biography.

The submission period opens on 1 October 2013 and closes on 31 January 2014.  With the fundraising due to start in February 2014 and close in May 2014, it is hoped we can publish the hard copies by October 2014.  For the first time the Writers intend to publish the anthology in eBook form.

As with all the EW anthologies, the artwork will be by members of the group.  The quality of artwork in the past has been exceptional and was  due to the brilliant work of Eileen Bacchus and Mavis Hayes who are both fantastic artists.  Eileen’s detailed pen drawings and Mavis’ wonderful watercolours stand out in the past anthologies as I’m sure they will in the new one.  This time around we are also asking other members who to provide artwork and illustrations.  It will be interesting to see what comes of this.

So the coming 12 months will be facinating for the Writers.  Many members are already working on their stories.  I can’t wait to read them.
